Computer Lab

The computer lab at Highland elementary has 25 computer workstations connected to the internet.  Students and faculty have access to Microsoft software and a variety of other applications approved by the East Baton Rouge Parish school system.  Lessons are presented utilizing computer projection and ActivBoard interactive teaching technology.

Computer Usage

Students are taught to operate computer technology in a responsible and creative manner.  They are given instruction about our district network policies, internet safety, privacy issues, and citing sources. The students are expected to follow the guidelines for network and internet use outlined by the East Baton Rouge School Board.  Basic computer terminology is taught and incorporated in daily discussions.  Students are encouraged to explore various ways to present information.

Grading & Reporting

Students receive a grade each nine week period based on participation and performance.  Both the process and the product are graded and students are expected to complete assigned work during the computer period.  Grades are earned based on the following scale: Excellent (90-100%); Satisfactory (70-90%); Unsatisfactory (Below 70%)
